20 Days to go

Posted in Blog on December 19th, 2007

The number just keeps getting smaller.

I (Jim) have just been out for the Dept IT Christmas do, Karen went out for hers last night – that is it as far as as work relationships go for the UK. Many people that will be sorely missed when we go but, for all the well meaning “keep in touch” sentiments it very rarely works out like that. However, there are allways the people you never lose touch with and hopefully this blog will help towards that.

We are starting to focus on the packing arrangement now, what we can fit in a suitcase and what we have to pack up for the “Mr shifter” move. Karen, as allways, is focused on the practical aspects like shoes, coats etc. while I am more worried about tools, stepladders, camping equipment and other “essential” bits and pieces.

Next step in the To-Do list is to start cancelling elcectric, gas, council tax, phone etc. so more on the trials and tribulations of this phase in the next instalment.

Cheers for now

35 Days to go

Posted in Blog on December 5th, 2007

Still nibbling away at the to-do list. Have opened a bank account, got copies of our medical records, sent off for Insurance cover for our stuff as it wends it’s way around the world.

Had a bit of a busy weekend. Went to see our daughter in Southampton, stopping off for a meeting with Sue on the way. Sue has put together a brilliant log/picture album of our sailing holiday in Greece and has very kindly printed a copy for us. Dave could not be there as he was having a plaster cast taken off his arm – ever the action man!

While we were in Southampton we called in at my sisters as it was my niece Victoria’s Birthday. Claire and Lorna (sisters) were both there and it was really great to see them.

On the way home we called in to see Viv, Richard & Woody and are going to try and call in again during the Christmas round of visits.

Next job is to sell the car. Will take some pictures in daylight at the weekend and then get it advertised.

It’s starting to get close now – nerves starting to jangle a bit!!
